Time Keeps on Ticking

Time Keeps on Ticking.......................

Let's talk about time.  Time is a fleeting commodity that we seem to take for granted.  Tomorrow is not promised; but how many of us still sit around and wait for life to happen to us?  How many of us say, "I'll [blank] one day"?  What if "one day" is TODAY?

So many times, I have heard people say:
"One day, I am going to meet the man or woman of my dreams."
"One day, I am going to own my dream house."
"When I get financially set, I am going to settle down with the love of my life."
"I am going to see the world before I die."
"The Lord will bless me one day."

What if today is the day that your dream man or dream woman comes into your life?  What if today is the day that you realize he or she has been within arm's reach?  What if today is the day that you allow yourself to fall in love?  What if today is the day that you buy a nice house in preparation for owning your dream house?  What if today is the day that you realize that you don't want to lose the love of your life no matter how much money you have or don't have?  What if you realize, today, that you could get even more financially set if you worked together with someone who loved you and believed in you?  What if you take a small vacation today as one more step toward seeing the world?  What if today is the day that you apologize for a wrong you committed in the past?  What if today is the day that you simply open your heart to another person to share your story or to listen to his or her story?  What if the Lord's blessing, today, is the mercy He shows you for offering an apology or for spending time with another one of His children?

What exactly are you waiting for each day when you wake up?  Do you think you would get more out of life if you got up and went after some things and started to make some tings happen in your life?  You might; but you won't know unless you try.  Einstein's definition of insanity is "Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results."  So, I challenge you to do something different today.  Actively pursue your hopes and dreams.  Go after what you want.  Create your destiny.  Fulfill your purpose.  Own your joy.  In his book, The Six Pillars of Self-Esteem, Nathaniel Branden says, "Taking responsibility for [your] happiness is empowering.  It places [your] life back in [your] own hands."

So, Ladies and Gentlemen, if you want to meet new friends, you will have to go out and do that.  Go to new places and try new things with a new group of people.  If you really want a serious relationship, then be serious yourself and don't ask for more than you are willing to give.  If you want a casual relationship, then be honest about that as well and don't waste people's time with lies and games.  If you want to make amends, then be the bigger person, hold yourself accountable, and offer an apology.  If you want to travel, go.  If you want to save money or get financially set, stop spending and pull your budget belt tight.  If you want a better marriage or relationship, speak up, communicate, and work on it.  If you want people to stop taking advantage of you, stop allowing them to do so.  If you want to be treated with respect, demand it and do not waiver on your boundaries.  If you want your wife to submit to you, then be the [Ephesians] husband that you are supposed to be; and Ladies, when he is doing what he is supposed to do, submit and honor him.

Please stop wasting time waiting for life to happen to you.  Stop wasting time waiting for your significant other to read your mind.  Stop wasting time waiting for your life to be in perfect, or near-perfect, order before pursuing your dreams or allowing love in your life.  Enjoy each day for what it brings because yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised; so, today is all we really have.
